Shark Cage Diving - Great Whites and Sharks in their own environment - This ain't your ordinary 'fishing' trip!
Full Day Tours run between 1st December through to June each year, operating on Monday,Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturdays with a maximum of 15 Divers and 5 Sightseers. All tours depart from Bluff.
All tours meet at 6:45am at the Shark Experience Booking Office, located at 64 Gore Street, Bluff. After a quick briefing everyone heads to the Bluff Passenger Wharf to board the Tour vessel 'Southern Isle' and meet the Crew.
We then spend 45 minutes traveling over the famous Foveaux Strait heading south to the Northern TiTi Islands. Here our tour begins where we take in the sights of these mostly uninhabited islands.
For those who wish to 'get wet' - divers are are issued wet suits, masks, booties, gloves and weight belts its time to get in our submerged enclosed underwater viewing platform!
Our passengers who are new to diving then undertake the 25min Introduction to Underwater Diving with our onboard Dive Guide, learning everything you need to know and to be confident in our Shark Cage. NB This training is mandatory if the diver can not present proof previous dive training and its not included in the standard fare price. A practice dive is completed with the Dive Guide to allow full safety assessment of the participant prior to solo diving in the enclosed environment.
Your Shark Experience relies on the cooperation of an unpredictable, magnificent wild animal. None of the animals we deal with are trained. When dealing with any natural event or animal, there are no guarantees. Shark Experience follows strict industry-imposed guidelines when dealing with sharks and wildlife with our staff trained to adhere to these guidelines. Our crew will do everything it can to provide you with a Shark Experience within these guidelines.
Our passionate staff provide plenty of commentary on the local marine life and history. A trip with us will include: marine life photo opportunities, complimentary lunch and hot drinks, hot showers, comfortable seating, live video of the sharks on screens in the cabin, and all dive equipment.
The Captain aims for a 5pm return to Bluff, however it all depends on the sharks.. so this may be sooner if its been a BIG day, or later if everyone wants to carry on.
