Games and Thrones is the title of this year's promenade show that features a series of Shakespearean scenes around the Otepuni Gardens.

From Richard III to Joan of Arc, Shakespeare knew well the high price individuals paid for power. Many of the bards plays focus on the darker side of humanity.

Corruption, violence, politics and the need to be in control were triggers that sparked many dynamic and dramatic events.

In this selection of scenes, directors Jonathan Tucker and Angela Newell, and a cast of 30 performers take you on a journey through some of the darker tales of Shakespeare.

Assembling in small groups, audiences will be guided around the gardens, taking in a number of scenes that reflect the themes. The final destination, after an hour in the gardens, is a medieval-style reception at the Masonic Lodge where a cup of tea of coffee and more entertainment will be offered.

Come early and enjoy a picnic, listening to live music in the band rotunda area.

Groups begin their journey in 20 minute intervals, with shows scheduled for 6.10pm, 6.30pm, 6.50pm and 7.10pm.

You can buy tickets on Eventfinda or at the Invercargill i-SITE. While there is no age restriction, parents are advised that simulated violence may not be suitable for some people of a young or nervous disposition, so discretion is advised. However, this is theatre and Shakespeare, so it's not really REAL!!!
