Bluff Hill/Motupōhue Mountain Bike Park

180 Flagstaff Road, Bluff

Bluff Motupōhue is located at the end of State Highway 1 and is one of Southland’s primary tourist destinations. Bluff Hill Motupōhue boasts spectacular views over Foveaux Strait and the Southland Plains, as well as a well-established walking track network and mountain bike park.

The primary bike loop is an intermediate trail, with a series of advanced and expert descending options beginning at various elevations. There is an alternative climbing option on the upper reaches of the hill, as well as a purpose-built downhill track on the east side of Flagstaff Road. Trail maps can be found on the Southland Mountain Bike Club website and on TrailForks.

This trail is considered a Grade 3/4/5 - Intermediate/Advanced/Expert trail based on the Kennett Brothers grading system which is widely used by New Zealand riders. For more information on the grading go here.
