39 Ward Parade, Stirling Point, Bluff

The first section of the walkway, from Stirling Point to Lookout Point/Foveaux Memorial takes 50 - 60 minutes and follows the coast, providing spectacular ocean views. It has an easy grade and well-compacted surface making it suitable for all ages. In winter you may be spot New Zealand Fur Seals or Southern Right Whales.

From Lookout Point you can: return to Stirling Point via the same track making a 2 hour round trip, return via Glory Track which offers a quiet forest track alternative to the coastal walk, take the 55 minute, steep Millennium Track from Lookout Point up to the top of Bluff Hill (Motupohue) where you will be rewarded with superb views across Foveaux Strait to Stewart Island (Rakiura), or continue on the Foveaux Walkway to Ocean Beach, which is a further 1 hour 30 minute one-way walk around the coast and across private farmland. No dogs are allowed on this section of the Foveaux Walkway.

Note: Dog access is allowed if the dog is on a leash. Go here for more dog friendly walks and areas in Southland.
