647 Forest Hill Crossing Road,
Lochiel
Forest Hill Scenic Reserve protects a valuable example of a remnant of New Zealand native forest surrounded by developed agricultural land. A unique reserve, the forest represents the type of native bush once found on limestone outcrops throughout the Southland Plains.
The Loop Track is a one hour return track. Forest Hill picnic area is the start of a loop walk which features a small cave called Weta Cave.
Note: No dogs are allowed in the reserve.
