You’re there, holding up the ‘180’ sign, the music pumping, high-fiving players as they stride out to the arena.
The players are like rock-stars. They tour the country to universal acclaim among adoring fans and intense rivalries. And there’s nothing like an upset to get the crowd really rocking.
You can go along yourself or with a mate, but why not grab a table and really make a day of it.
And you don’t need to know anything about darts to have a fantastic time — you’ll pick it up in no time.
A professional compere brings you all the action, and there are big screen replays for those too-close-to-call moments on the dart board.
There’s $15,000 in prize money up for grabs — the biggest prize money for a darts event in New Zealand — and awesome prizes for the best-dressed supporters.
You’ll see some of the best darts players in New Zealand — each entering the arena to the sounds of their unique walk-on music.
Qualifying competitions are held in regions all over New Zealand to select the competitors.
New Zealand’s top-ranked players will be there — with the likes of New Zealand Number 1 and sixth-ranked World Darts Federation player Ben Robb, and Southland’s own darts master, Warren Parry, joining in the fun. Throw in names like Haupai Puha, currently ranked number 2 World Darts Federation player in the world, and you can see why tickets fly out the door.
So make sure you’re part of the fun as the ILT Southland Darts Masters bursts into action - and why not make a real weekend of it by checking out more of Invercargill’s endless charms.
Numerous heritage buildings give the city a charming old-world quality, while the magnificent Queens Park impresses with its sprawling 80 hectares of beautifully kept gardens and wildlife habitats, then sit back and enjoy the excellent cultural attractions, like Transport World, lively cafes, restaurants and bars and the brand new city centre.
