Situated at the base of the Takitimu Mountain range and the gateway to the iconic Fiordland National Park, lies a fourth-generation family-owned and operated farm. The Macdonald family have been farming this land since 1915.
The 2800 acre property is a combination of rugged hill country dotted with native tussocks and grasses as well as flat pastoral land. Both sheep and cattle are farmed here using well-practiced sustainable processes, high quality technology and good old fashioned hard work.
The owners, Fiona and James Macdonald look forward to welcoming you at Davaar Station either to stay at the Davaar Country Holiday Home or to join their farm tours.
Davaar Country Holiday Home
Originally our first family farm house, the Davaar Country Holiday Home is a beautiful house situated on Davaar Station. It has a magnificent outlook across the paddocks and mountains and plenty of space including a garden and expansive lawn. It is a 20 minute drive to Te Anau, which is the last town before Milford Sound and the gateway to the Fiordland National Park.
The home has four bedrooms, one bathroom, two toilets and two showers. A fully equipped kitchen, dining area, lounge and separate smaller lounge, which is great for children to play. There is an office and a garage and plenty of alternative parking space in the yard, which is great for large vehicles and boats. There are two yunca fires, a heat pump in the dining area and a night store. There is a smart tv, washing machine, dishwasher and a clothes dryer in the garage.
We have found this house to be perfect for families travelling the South and wanting a luxury stay but not in town. The atmosphere that the home brings is a relaxed, comfortable and spacious one, away from other people and activity.
