Two pleasant, short walking tracks at Stockyard Cove in Hope Arm on Lake Manapouri, leading to either West Beach or the waterfalls above the cove.
Discover the remote south-west fiords of Breaksea and Dusky Sounds at a pace that lets you connect with their rich and spectacular landscapes. With more than 350 islands, these incredibly beautiful fiords offer many idyllic spots for mooring and trips ashore.
On our 5 day Dusky Sound Discovery Expedition you will cruise in the wake of Captain Cook on his historic 1773 voyage to seek out the hypothetical Terra Australis. We also take you to Doubtful Sound, well known for its wildlife, including fur seals and a resident pod of bottlenose dolphins.
Your vessel for the trip, the Milford Wanderer, has great facilities, friendly crew members and outstanding food. Our onboard specialist nature guides provide informative commentary throughout the cruise and evening talks, as well as guided walks through rainforest and along beautiful deserted shorelines. We visit historic sites and abandoned settlements during our journey, and also explore the coastline in tender craft and kayaks.
The trip includes a one-way or return helicopter transfer. Coach connections from Te Anau and Queenstown are available at extra cost.
