Follow in the footsteps of the first tourists to walk in this area over a hundred years ago, before the Wilmot Pass Road was built, on this 2.7km tramping track in Deep Cove, Doubtful Sound.
From the Deep Cove Hostel, head up the road towards the tail race portal, crossing the Lyvia Bridge. 50 metres past the Lyvia Bridge on the right hand side, enter the very pleasant river nature walk track that leads up to the tail race portal through a variety of trees and plant species. Before reaching the portal, turn right onto the Old Doubtful Sound Track, heading up the valley on the true right of the Lyvia River before crossing the Stella Burn by swingbridge. The trail then joins up with the Wilmot Pass Road. From here either walk back down the road (watch for traffic) or return along the same tracks to the hostel.
