Waimea Plains Railway was formed to establish an operational railway at Mandeville. Retrieved from the Oreti River, the 1878 Rogers K92 Locomotive is restored and fully operational. While the overall project is still developing the Steam Train is operational during the Summer Season, on selected Running Weekends. The Trust has secured other rolling stock, signalling equipment and other heritage items awaiting restoration. The main workshop building is underway and track construction is ongoing.
