Rivers, mountains, scenic reserves, and gardens – Northern Southland has it all! Two of the particularly special natural spaces in the region are the Eyre Mountains (Taka Ra Haka) Conservation Park and the Piano Flat and Waikaia Forest Conservation Area. Both places provide trails for tramping, horse riding, mountain biking, and 4-wheel driving, and also easily accessible picnic and camping spots for the less adventurous wilderness seekers.
