Tucked away at Mandeville in rural Southland is one of New Zealand's gems. Here the golden age of flight can be relived in our nationally significant museum; dedicated to preserving and celebrating New Zealand’s civil aviation heritage, both the stories of pioneer aviators and their equally colorful machines.

Learn about some of New Zealand's early aviators and see our wide range of fully restored aircraft, most of which are from the 1920s and 30s - including a large collection of de Havilland aircraft. Our collection is unique in that nearly all of the aircraft on display can actually fly.

Many of the aircraft on display have been restored by the Croydon Aircraft Company.  A family operated business who specialize in the restoration of de Havilland and other vintage aircraft. The company has a world-renowned reputation for the quality of its craftsmanship, with most of the work being carried out to original specifications and materials being used that are the same or as close as possible to those used in the 1930’s when these type of aircraft were originally built. The workshop hangar, with aircraft in various stages of restoration, can be viewed by prior arrangement.

Top your experience off with an ultimate scenic and fun-filled flight in one of the vintage aircraft available for public flights. Contact the Heritage Centre for more information about Vintage Aircraft Flights.
