Although a steep walk, this 30 minute track is rewarded with fantastic panoramic views over Paterson Inlet and Mount Rakeahua.
The Golden Bay to Deep Bay to Ringaringa Beach and over Peterson Hill Walking Track is a beautiful walk that winds through lush rainforest and follows the coast, providing amazing views of of Paterson Inlet and Ulva Island.
Just before Golden Bay, on the Golden Bay Road, a sign marks the start of the track. The coastal fringed forest walk that joins Golden Bay and Deep Bay climbs and falls, offering lovely scenic views. After exploring the beach at Deep Bay, continue on over land to Ringaringa Beach - although the walk down onto this beach is not maintained to the standard of the rest of the track, so the short detour to the Ringaringa Beach Lookout might be of more interest to some. The lookout offers great views of the beach, inlet and Native Island and is also home to a monument to Reverend Wohlers, an early missionary.
The walk then doubles back towards Deep Bay, where a track leads back towards Oban through Deep Bay Reserve and over Peterson Hill, which provides lovely views over Halfmoon Bay.
