What better way to spend your next holiday than with a round of golf on one of the many courses in New Zealand’s deep south?

Southland boasts 24 courses ideal for long, relaxed games or competitive rounds, and it won’t cost the earth. Green fees at Southland clubs range from $3 at Ohai to $25 at Invercargill courses for golfers who don’t belong to a Golf New Zealand-affiliated club.

The Invercargill Golf Club's course at Otatara is an 18-hole course that’s home to one of New Zealand’s top amateur tournaments, the SBS Invitational. The course has a full-service driving range and separate chipping/putting greens, and a restaurant with full service bar perfect for winding down in after your game.

Queens Park course is sprawled throughout the pretty park of the same name near the Invercargill city centre. It’s a picturesque 18-hole course lined with trees. While the course is flat, it has narrow fairways and bunkers, offering golfers a challenging game.

Play on one of the world’s most southern golf courses – Ringa Ringa Heights on Stewart Island, a short ferry ride from Bluff or 20-minute flight from Invercargill. Golfers can enjoy panoramic sea views on the semi-private course while they play.

Southland’s golf clubs are always happy to welcome visitors.
