Hidden from the view of the Gorge Road - Invercargill Highway is a landscape which has been transformed from a disused mine to a tranquil garden. Come and enjoy a number of paths that wind themselves through the garden and around the lake, where you can take your time to explore the native flora, fauna and secluded aviaries.
Our cafe overlooks the garden and lake, so while you relax with a coffee and a selection of home baking, you can take in the vista that is our garden. We provide chess and other games for those wanting to spend time relaxing further. The cafe building is also home to a number of home made knitted and crocheted products, spinning wheels, weaving looms and wools from Ashford Handicrafts that are for sale and Perky Parrots, a bird specialist and supplier of bird cages, toys, food, medicine and supplements.
We are happy to offer our gardens as a wedding venue, with plenty of gorgeous spots to choose from for you special day. We also have a covered tunnel house that can seat around 100 available for events - a great back up for if the weather doesn't smile on your wedding day.
At our camp ground we can accept self-contained vehicles, cars and tents. At present, we have two powered site and lots of space for several unpowered campers and cars. We currently only have a toilet as our facilities, but we are looking at adding showers and a better kitchen area in the future - so watch this space!
Our cafe and gardens are open from September till May, the camping area is open all year round.
