It’s perhaps one of the best freedom camping sites for self-contained campervans offered by the Southland District Council. Colac Bay has a beautiful beach, with occasional surf too. There’s a friendly atmosphere here, and it’s a relaxed pace. Plus, you can also go snorkelling for Paua at low tide!

Accessible by foot at low tide, a stairway leads to the top of the island where there are spectacular views. The beach is long and uncrowded.
