The Otautau Museum is a small museum located in Otautau, about 50 km west of Invercargill.
The museum is in the historic courthouse on the main road, with multiple rooms of displays which change throughout the year. Our collections consist of historical photographs, archives, and other interesting objects related to Otautau & Districts, and our displays represent different areas of development from both a social and physical perspective of the town and surrounding area.
We are an all-volunteer run museum governed by trustees and are always looking for more helpers - either behind the scenes or for Sunday duty roster.
Open Sundays, 2pm-4pm, and most Thursdays & Fridays from 10am-2pm, but please phone 027-211-4675 to make sure we are there. Visitors welcome on other days by request - please phone above number or 03-225-8209 to arrange a day and time that suits.
