Nature
Many public parks and stunning gardens are scattered throughout the Gore District. Nestled among farmland in the area, pockets of native bush can be found in scenic reserves, providing fantastic spots for picnics and short walks. The Waikaka Way walkway in Gore, is a picturesque, 1.3km (one way) walk that follows the contours of the river. Adventure is offered by BMX tracks and the mighty Mataura River – great for jet boating, but world-class for fishing!
One of the largest natural attractions in the district is Dolamore Park and the Croydon Bush Scenic Reserve, just a ten-minute drive from Gore. This 95 hectare reserve offers various pleasant walking tracks, mountain biking tracks, an excellent playground and a flying fox, open spaces for recreational pursuits, gardens, and even a camping area.
