Experience Fiordland

It is almost impossible to describe the feeling you get when you visit Fiordland. No matter how many times people tell you of Fiordland National Park’s untouched beauty, it will never compare to the feeling you get when you actually take a trip here.

The pristine waters look unreal when you see it. The rugged and remote location offers awe-inspiring landscapes and a wide range of recreational activities. It is a world-class sightseeing destination and a must-do for anyone exploring New Zealand.

Milford Sound has often been referred to as the jewel in Fiordland’s crown and the reasons behind it make sense. It was famously described, by the renowned fantasy author Rudyard Kipling, as the eighth wonder of the world. by the renowned fantasy author Rudyard Kipling.

The gorgeous lakeside town of Te Anau boasts a wide range of activities on or off the water, restaurants with luxury cuisines and opulent accommodation. Lake Te Anau is the largest lake in the South Island and the second largest in the country. The breathtaking Murchison and Mount Luxmore mountains are at its backdrop.

Manapōuri is another lakeside town and is the base for discovering Doubtful Sound. The peaceful township lies on the easter shores of Lake Manapōuri. Doubtful Sound is sometimes called “the sound of silence”. It is the deepest of the fiords at Fiordland and the second longest, with three distinct “arms” and numerous small islands and several waterfalls. Take a cruise and discover a fiord at the southwest corner of Aotearoa New Zealand at Dusky Sound. There will be more than 350 islands to pass through and that would offer idyllic spots for mooring and trips ashore.

Within Fiordland are three of New Zealand’s Great Walks; the Milford, Routeburn and Kepler Track. The Milford Track takes you across ancient valleys carved by glaciers and stunning panoramas from McKinnon Pass. You will wander through ancient rainforests and be able to enjoy the emerald waters of the Clinton River. The Routeburn Track is the ultimate alpine adventure, that weaves through meadows and reflective tarns. You will experience heavenly views over the vast mountain ranges and valleys. The Kepler Track is along vast tussock-covered ridgelines and has gorgeous alpine vistas. You will pass a peaceful lakeside and valley beech forest. It’s a wilderness adventure!

Have you ever had the chance to take an adventure through a sparkling glow worm cave? If not, then you must venture deep into the magical world of the glowworms. Depart from Te Anau and take a boat cruise on Lake Te Anau. The Glow worm cave tour will give you access to a unique cave system sculpted by water and home to hundreds of glittering glowworms.
