There are many reasons why you should list your event on Southland NZ. Check out our criteria, guidelines, top tips, and terms & conditions.

- Your event will feature on SouthlandNZ What's On gaining exposure for customers searching for events in Southland
- Your event will be easy for customers to find, with a search bar and option to filter by date, category or region
- Your event could feature in our monthly events e-newsletter that reaches over 1,000 subscribers
- Your event could feature on our local community screen at Invercargill Library
- Your event could feature in Southland’s seasonal or categorial events promotions

Eligible events must provide a direct service or experience and fall under at least one of the following classifications:
- Sports & Outdoors - including both spectator and participatory sport events, agriculture, and motoring
- Workshops & Classes - including arts/crafts, dance, music, painting, pottery, boat-building and/or cooking
- Family Friendly - including shows, fetes, open days, performances, and parades
- Music, Festivals & Gigs - including festivals of all types, and music, concerts and gigs
- Arts, Culture & Awards - including cultural song and dance, fashion, art, exhibitions and theatre
- Food & Drink - including food festivals, harvest celebrations, cooking masterclasses, beer and wine festivals
- Markets - including food markets and farmers markets

To have your event approved it must meet the following criteria:
- Occur at a venue or location within the Southland regional boundary
- Be open to the general public and have broad appeal
- Be submitted by the event organiser or authorised agent
- Your event details will be finalised prior to submission including specific time(s), date(s) and location(s) confirmed
- Include all required information and images
- SouthlandNZ What's On event listings does not list websites, apps, accommodation, professional services, sales promotions, special offers, general advertisements for a business or ongoing service or product

MUST HAVES
- Date, start time, finish time, location and event website link
- Short, concise information to use for the event description – refer to event description tips below
- A great photo – refer to photo tips below
TIMING IS EVERYTHING
- Submit your event as soon as you know your date - this will increase your promotion time and extend marketing opportunities
- If something new is happening or about to happen, share it with us sooner rather than later
IMAGE TIPS
- Photos should be high resolution (1MB or more) with no text, logos or graphics
- Pick photos that are bright, colourful and in focus
- Supply a combination of landscape (horizontal) and portrait (vertical) photos to fit different social format
- Make sure you own the rights to the image
- Avoid empty venues images
- Shoot with the light behind you or to the side
EVENT DESCRIPTION TIPS
- Your event description needs to grab the attention of the customer and tell them everything they need to know
- Keep it brief
- Include key details and your event website

- Our team carefully reviews events when they’re received, making sure we continue to deliver a high quality site
- When approving, SouthlandNZ may modify your listing information for style and grammar, invalid characters, symbols or formatting
- Listings may be edited for style and length
- If your listing is sent back to you with a request for amendments, and you choose to resubmit without making the requested changes, our team may refuse to publish your event

- Events are published at SouthlandNZ’s discretion. Publication of an event isn’t an endorsement
