Prioritisation of Events

Some events are prioritised events via banner advertisements (gaining key real estate online) and via a variety of newsletters.

This prioritisation (in Venture Southland’s sole opinion) is based on the following criteria:

·         Events are listed in date order, while priority listing is for wide community reach and appeal.

·         Community reach, where events have capacity to accommodate significant number of event attendees (includes the number of tickets available, and the capacity of venue).

·         Community appeal, where events have a breadth of appeal and goodwill to a wide variety of Southland’s community and geography.

·         Visitor appeal, where events have characteristics that have recreational or educational components that appeal to visitors to Southland and that can contribute additionality to the Southland community.

·         Diversity of event types so that the variety of events provides opportunity to diverse opportunities that might not otherwise been found.

·         The number of events on promotion at the time, where Venture Southland uses discretion to select and fill its promotional spaces based on elements above.

·         Events that include local, regional or national partnerships where local organisations such as councils, sponsors and/or funders have prioritised for the Southland region.

·         Special interest events and training events are listed, however they may be found via search rather than listing order. This is to ensure that from the major audience of events listings are not distracted from key attraction and community events.

·         Provision of suitable event information and images, where the event operator has provided relevant information and content to consistently and comprehensively promote events.
