Taramea Bay & Mitchells Bay

Taramea Bay Road, Riverton

Both of these bays are located in Riverton. Taramea Bay, the stretch of beach between Howell's Point and the entrance of the Jacobs River Estuary, is a popular spot in the summer as it provides safe family swimming. A small section within the larger Taramea Bay, Mitchell's Bay is an excellent surf spot, with a great right hand point break that performs well at mid-tide.

The bays are also popular for water skiing, rowing, fishing and catching the occasional flounder. There are toilet and changing facilities and a great playground at Taramea Bay, plus interesting coastal walkways nearby.

Riverton is well known for dolphin spotting as they like to travel up into the estuary for feeding, so awe-inspiring close encounters in the bays are possible.
