Great South Standard Terms and Conditions for Promotions

1. Definitions

1.1 In these terms and conditions the following words have the meanings set out below:

‘Disqualified Participants’ means all employees of the Promoter, the Prize providing company and their immediate families, and any other person disqualified pursuant to the Specific Terms and Conditions.

‘Eligible Participants’ means everyone except for the Disqualified Participants. 

‘Entry’ means any entry to a Promotion submitted by a Participant in accordance with the Standard Terms and Conditions for Promotions and includes (without limitation) photographs, videos, digital media, drawings, audio and literary works, and ‘entries’ has a corresponding meaning.

‘Participant’ means the Disqualified Participants and Eligible Participants.

‘Prize’ has the meaning set out in Schedule 1 of the specific competition.

‘Promoter’ means Great South, 143 Spey Street, PO Box 1306, Invercargill, Southland.

‘Promotion’ means the Promoter’s competition and/or promotion through any means of medium including but not limited to online (including social media), radio and print and more particularly described in the Specific Terms and Conditions.

‘Prize Winner’ means the person who wins the Promotion.

‘Redemption Period’ means the period within which the Prize may be redeemed, as specified in the Specific Terms and Conditions.

‘Specific Terms and Conditions’ has the meaning set out in clause 7.1.

2. Entry

2.1 By entering the Promotion you confirm that you accept and agree to these terms and conditions, and any Specific Terms and Conditions. If the Prize Winner does not accept this clause 2.1 the Prize will be forfeited.

3. Personal Information

3.1 The Promoter will specify in the Specific Terms and Conditions the contact details Participants must supply.

3.2 The Promoter may use the contact details supplied by all Participants for further marketing contact by the Promoter. Participants may opt out of further marketing contact, by emailing the Promoter at promotions@greatsouth.nz

3.3 The Promoter reserves the right to seek and to verify any information provided by the Prize Winner, including (without limitation) as to any eligibility requirements for the Promotion.  Entries which do not contain clear or valid information will be deemed invalid at the Promoter’s sole discretion. 

3.4 All Participants acknowledge and consent to the use of their personal (and where applicable business) information including but not limited to photographs being taken and published on any form of media (without limitation, this includes print, social media, and radio) in connection with the Promotion and for future promotion and marketing purposes. The Participant waives any claims to royalty, right or remuneration for such use. Where the Participant is under the age of 18 the consent of the Participant’s parents or guardians will be obtained by the Promoter before using that Participant’s personal information.

3.5 Pursuant to the Privacy Act 2020, all Participants have the right to access and correct their personal information by contacting the Promoter in writing. Personal information will be dealt with by the Promoter in accordance with its Privacy Policy, available here.

4. Publicity

4.1 The Promoter may publicise the Promotion and Participants in any manner they think fit.

4.2 The Prize Winner, by accepting the prize, agrees to be available for publicity purposes without compensation, including photographs and interviews, during reasonable hours.

5. Promoter’s Prerogative

5.1 The Promoter takes no responsibility for any lost, damaged, misdirected, late, or illegible entries or any problems or technical malfunctions which may result in delay or failure to enter the Promotion, or prevent the Participant from being the Prize Winner. The Promoter takes no responsibility for incorrect transcription of information or for any human error, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, or any other error or malfunction in relation to the Promotion. 

5.2 The Promoter will select the Prize Winner from the Eligible Participants at their sole discretion. If the Promoter is unable to contact the Prize Winner within one week, having made reasonable efforts to do so, that Prize Winner’s entry will be declared invalid, and the Promoter reserves the right at its absolute discretion to select a new winner from the Eligible Participants.  To avoid doubt the Promoter shall not be required to locate any additional contact details for the Prize Winner than those provided upon entry. This clause may apply more than once.

5.3 The Promoter reserves the right to add any person to the Disqualified Participants definition during the Promotion on reasonable grounds. 

5.4 The Promoter reserves the right to change these terms and conditions, and the Specific Terms and Conditions (including the Redemption Period) without prior notice at any time. 

6. Prize

6.1 The Prize can only be won by an Eligible Participant (as determined by the Promoter in its sole discretion).

6.2 The Prize is as listed at Schedule 1. Any other costs including but not limited to transport, meals, insurance and tax are the responsibility of the Prize Winner. 

6.3 The Promoter reserves the right to exchange the Prize for a prize of a similar value at the Promoter’s sole discretion.  

6.4 The Prize Winner cannot transfer the Prize to another person without the prior written consent of the Promoter. 

6.5 The Prize cannot be transferred, exchanged or redeemed for cash.

6.6 If the Prize Winner is under 18 years of age, the prize will be awarded to the Prize Winner’s parent or caregiver.

7. Promoter’s Liability

7.1 The Promoter, its employees and agents, will not be liable in any way (including, without limitation, in negligence) for any loss or damage whatsoever suffered (including indirect or consequential loss) or for any loss or damage or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the Promotion or the Prize. Further, the Promoter takes no responsibility for any Prize that is not supplied by a third party, lost or destroyed.

8. Specific Terms and Conditions 

8.1 A Promotion may have specific terms and conditions, which will be included in Schedule 1 attached (the “Specific Terms and Conditions”). The specific terms and conditions will prevail over these standard terms and conditions in the event of any inconsistency. 

9. Facebook / Social Media

9.1 The Promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook and/or other social media channels. By entering this promotion, you are providing this information to the Promoter and not to Facebook or other social media channels. You completely release Facebook and/or other social media channels from any and all liability associated with this Promotion.

10. Ownership of Entry

10.1 The Participant confirms that they are the creator of the Entry and the Entry is an original piece of their work. All Entries to this Promotion become the property of the Promoter and will not be returned to Participants unless the Promoter agrees otherwise. Without limiting the foregoing, the Participant grants the Promoter an exclusive, transferable, non-revocable, royalty-free licence to use, copy, store, modify, adapt, disclose and publish the Entry in perpetuity.

11. Travel

11.1 Any changes to travel dates or additional accommodation outside the travel period specified in the Prize details in the Specific Terms and Conditions made by the Prize Winner, which incur additional costs, are to be paid by the Prize Winner.

11.2 Incidental costs, including but not limited to passport and visa costs, travel insurance, departure taxes and airport transfers and all other personal expenditures, will be at the Prize Winner's expense unless specifically advised in the Prize. 1

11.3 When the Prize Winner is under 18 years of age, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. The Promoter shall not be responsible for any travel costs incurred by the parent or guardian.

12. Activities and accommodation 

12.1 Where the Prize includes activities and accommodation, such activities and accommodation are subject to availability and seasonal changes in scheduling. Without limiting clause 6, where such activities are weather dependent the Promoter and the provider of the Prize reserve the right to change or modify the Prize or the Redemption Period. 

12.2 The Prize Winner agrees it will be bound by the terms and conditions of each provider of the Prize or part thereof, once the Prize is booked and confirmed.  

Visit, Shop & Explore – May 2024 - Schedule 1 - Specific Terms and Conditions 

These specific terms and conditions apply to the ‘Visit, Shop & Explore’ Retail Campaign running in the Invercargill City Centre throughout May 2024.

Promotion Period

A. The Promotion commences at 9.00am on Wednesday, 1 May 2024 and ends at 5.00pm on Friday, 31 May 2024.  The Promoter reserves the right to change the promotion period at any time, at their sole discretion.

Prize

B. The Prize Pool consists of:

• 1 x Winning Prize of 1 x $1,000.00 Prezzy Card
• 4 x Runner-Up Prizes of 1 x $500.00 Prezzy Card
• 4 x Second Runner Up Prizes of 1 x $250.00 Prezzy Card

Entry

C. The participant is eligible to enter their details on the provided entry forms after making a purchase in any of the participating stores mentioned in B.  Entries can be submitted into the prize draw boxes located in participating stores.  There is no minimum purchase amount.

D. There is no limit as to how many times one participant can submit an entry, however only 1 prize can be claimed per participant. In the case of multiple entries from one participant being drawn, the highest value Prize will be attributed to the participant and the others will be redrawn.

E.  All decisions are at the discretion of the Promoter and no correspondence will be entered into in this regard.

F. Participating store staff and their families are not eligible to enter.

Prize Draw and Announcement

G. The draw will take place under police supervision on Thursday, 6 June 2024 in the afternoon.  Winners will then be notified by phone.

H. A contact phone number is required on the entry form to enable us to contact the winners.

Redemption Period

Schedule 1 - Specific Terms and Conditions 

These specific terms and conditions apply to the 'Southern Field Days at Waimumu 2024' competition.

Promotion Period 

A. The Promotion commences at 9 am on 1 February 2024 and ends at 5 pm on 29 February 2024. The Promoter reserves the right to change the promotion period at any time at their sole discretion. 

Prize 

B. The Prize is a choice of a double pass to the Southland event of your choice before 31 December 2024 (maximum value $200). OR a place on Great South's 1 Day Taster Decarbonisation for Business workshop to be redeemed before 31 December 2024. Neither prize is transferable or redeemable for cash. 

Entry 

C. Anyone who signs up to receive news from Great South via the website in February 2024 will be automatically entered in the draw.

D. All Great Staff employees and their 'immediate families' are disqualified from winning the prize package. 'Immediate families' include spouses and children.

E. All decisions are at the discretion of the Promoter, and no correspondence will be entered into in this regard.

Prize Draw and Announcement 

F. The Prize winner will be drawn at random from all eligible entries submitted via the website and contacted by email on Friday, 9 March 2024.

G. If the winner does not respond by 5 pm on Friday, 15 March, a new winner will be selected.

H. Upon acceptance of the prize, the winner will have two weeks to decide which prize they want to redeem. If the double pass to a Southland Unmissable event prize is chosen, they must decide which event they would like to attend within that timeframe.

I. Great South will arrange for tickets to be sent to the winner OR make the booking on the Decarbonisation Workshop as appropriate.

Redemption Period 

J. The package will be ordered within seven working days for the winner to collect/receive on a weekday. 

Other

K. If the event is cancelled or businesses are closed for unknown circumstances, the tickets/vouchers are non-transferable and non-refundable. 

L. Additional terms and conditions may apply. Please refer to promotors, individual participating businesses, and event(s) terms and conditions.

Schedule 1 - Specific Terms and Conditions 

These specific terms and conditions apply to the "Southland Home of Agritourism" competition.

Promotion Period 

A. The Promotion commences on 1 January 2023 and ends At 8 am on Friday, 14 February 2023. The Promoter reserves the right to change the promotion period at any time at their sole discretion. 

Prize 

B. The prize consists of two nights’ accommodation on the 3&4 of March 2023 at Hokonui B&B for two adults and up to two kids under 12 years old, with breakfast included. Entry to the Southland A&P Show 2023 for two adults (children under 16 are FOC) and a farm tour at Dairy Pryde on Sunday, the 5th of March 2023, for two adults and up to two children under 16 years of age.

C. The prize has no monetary value and must be taken by the prize winner. The prize has to be taken by the prize winner and is non-transferable and non-refundable. 

D. This prize pack is designed for up to a total of four people. The winner and accompanying family.

E. Accommodation is booked and confirmed for check-in Friday, 3 March 2023, and check-out Sunday, 5 March 2023. This is pre-booked accommodation and is non-transferable and non-refundable. 

F. Any other additional costs collated during your stay at the accommodation are at the prize winner’s expense.

G. Transportation is not included. The prize winner must arrange their own transport to reach the location(s). 

H. Event tickets to the Southland A&P Show on the 4th of March 2023 are only redeemable on the day of the event. This is non-transferable or refundable.

I. Dairy Pryde Farm tour is for the 5th of March 2023. These are non-transferable and non-refundable. 

Entry 

J. Entry is via the form on SouthlandNZ.com/agritourism page.

K. Eligible participants have to be over the age of 18 years old at the time of the draw to be able to win.

L. All decisions are at the Promoter's discretion, and no correspondence will be entered into in this regard.

M. For individual participating businesses' terms and conditions, visit the event/venue website.

Prize Draw and Announcement 

N. THE WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED LIVE ON AIR ON FRIDAY, 11 NOVEMBER.

O. The prize winner's contact details (name, phone number, email address) will be supplied to pre-booked accommodation.

Redemption Period 

P. The redemption period for accommodation is valid only between Friday, 3 March to Sunday, 5 March 2023.

Q. The redemption period for the Southland A&P Show tickets is valid only for Saturday, 4 March 2023.

R. The redemption period for the Dairy Pryde Farm Tour is valid only for Sunday, 5 March 2023.

Other

S. If the event is cancelled or businesses are closed for unknown circumstances, the tickets/vouchers are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Schedule 1 - Specific Terms and Conditions 

These specific terms and conditions apply to the "Invercargill 'Shop Till You Drop' Standoff with SouthlandNZ" winner for a weekend away in Invercargill.

Promotion Period 

A. The Promotion commences on The Hits Dunedin Callum & P breakfast show at 6 am on Monday, 7 November 2022 and ends at 8 am on Friday, 11 November 2022. The Promoter reserves the right to change the promotion period at any time at their sole discretion. 

Prize 

B. The Invercargill-based prize is designed for the winner and up to three lucky friends to enjoy. The prize consists of two nights' accommodation with two rooms for up to four people, including breakfast daily at the onsite cafe, a fuel voucher, 4 event tickets, meal and retail voucher(s).

C. The prize has no monetary value and must be taken by the prize winner. The prize has to be taken by the prize winner and is non-transferable and non-refundable. 

D. This prize pack is designed for up to a total of four people. The winner and accompanying friend(s) must be 18 or older. 

E. Accommodation is booked and confirmed for check-in Friday, 9 December, and check-out Sunday, 11 December. This is pre-booked accommodation and is non-transferable and non-refundable. 

F. Valet parking, mini bar, room-charge-back, and any other additional costs collated during your stay at the accommodation are at the prize winner’s expense.

G. Transportation is not included. The prize winner must arrange their own transport to reach the location(s). 

H. Event tickets to Ascot Park Christmas at the Races are only redeemable on Saturday, 10 December. This is non-transferable or refundable.

I. All vouchers are to be redeemed before their expiry date. These are non-transferable and non-refundable. 

Entry 

J. Refer to The Hits' terms and conditions for entry requirements.

K. Eligible participants have to be over the age of 18 years old at the time of the draw to be able to win. The three additional people accompanying the winner must also be over the age of 18 years old at the time of the draw.

L. All decisions are at the Promoter's discretion, and no correspondence will be entered into in this regard.

Schedule 1 - Specific Terms and Conditions 

These specific terms and conditions apply to the 'Southland Seafood Package' competition.

Promotion Period 

A. The Promotion commences at 9 am on 22 April 2022 and ends at 9 am on 27 April 2022. The Promoter reserves the right to change the promotion period at any time at their sole discretion. 

Prize 

B. The Prize is a Southland produce seafood package to the value of up to $200 and consisting of Southland seafood produce that is seasonally available at the time of the completion of the competition.

Entry 

C. To enter, the participant must like the post and tag someone they would like to share the seafood package with.  
D. All employees working on behalf of Savour the South; employees of participating businesses, promoters and their 'Immediate Families' are disqualified from winning the prize package. 'Immediate Families' include spouses and children.
E. All decisions are at the discretion of the Promoter, and no correspondence will be entered into in this regard.

Prize Draw and Announcement 

F. The Prize winner will be drawn at random from all eligible entries submitted on Facebook and contacted via Facebook on 27 April 2022.
G. If the winner does not respond by 9 am on 28 April 2022, a new winner will be selected.
H. At the acceptance of the prize, the winner is required to provide a postal address, email address and contact number for the package to be delivered to the winner's home.
I. If the prize winner lives within Southland, they will need to collect the package from Invercargill. If the prize winner lives outside of Southland, the package will be delivered to their address. No R.D. address will be accepted. 
J. The prize winner will be informed of collection/delivery details once the order has been submitted.

Redemption Period 

K. The package will be ordered within 7 working days for the winner to collect/receive on a weekday. 
L. This package contains items that need to be chilled/frozen. The prize winner is responsible for collecting the package on time/meeting the delivery courier.
