Then it's time to dive into Invercargill's motoring heritage. Wander through the epic Bill Richardson Transport World — it's one of the largest private automotive museums in the world, right here in Southland. Just across the road, Classic Motorcycle Mecca showcases beautifully restored bikes from every era. Don't forget to pop into Toot Sweets for a cheeky treat before you hit the road.

Afternoon

Bluff Bound

After a good morning exploring, fuel up before heading south. Choose from a classic Southland pie at Fat Bastard Pies, something hearty at The Grille, or head down into Bluff for a feed at Hayz @ the Anchorage.

Then it's off to Bluff, one of Aotearoa's oldest towns and the gateway to Rakiura Stewart Island. First stop: Bluff Distillery. Their small-batch gin has picked up many awards, and exciting plans for the future are making it a must-visit spot in the region.

Stretch your legs with a walk up Bluff Hill for sweeping views over Foveaux Strait, then drop in at Stirling Point to snap that classic photo with the famous signpost pointing to far‑flung places. It's a rite of passage down here at the edge of the world.
