Brunch, Bridges & Creative Spirit

Head south and stop at Brunel Peaks Café and Bar for a delicious brunch surrounded by Fiordland’s rugged charm, it's the kind of place where the food is fresh and the views are wild.

Stretch your legs at the historic Clifden Suspension Bridge, a quiet reminder of Southland’s pioneering past. Pause at the waharoa marking the start of the iconic Hump Ridge Track. If you’re up for it, take a short return walk to the Waikoau River mouth and swing bridge, a gentle taste of the wild.

Start your day with a good brew at Boundary Creek Gallery & Café before heading out to explore the coast.

Take in the dramatic views at McCracken’s Rest, then fossick for colourful stones at Gemstone Beach — no two visits are ever the same.

Brunch, Legends & Surf

Savour locally inspired dishes at Orepuki Beach Café, where the menu is as fresh as the sea breeze and the views are unforgettable.

At low tide, stroll across the beach to Monkey Island, steeped in Māori legend and local lore.

Continue to Cosy Nook, a rugged coastal pocket rich in history. Take time to admire the symbolic Matariki Pou and reflect on the stories they represent.
