Explore Invercargill's Icons

Start your day with a proper Southland brekkie. Whether you're into a classic café vibe at The Batch, something a bit flash at The Grille, or a modern twist at Industry Café, you'll be well set for the day ahead.

Then it's time to dive into Invercargill's motoring heritage. Wander through the epic Bill Richardson Transport World — it's one of the largest private automotive museums in the world, right here in Southland. Classic Motorcycle Mecca showcases beautifully restored bikes from every era.

Before you head off, duck into Toot Sweets for a bit of nostalgia and a cheeky treat.

Afternoon

Western Southland & Auld Farm Distillery

After a big morning, refuel with something hearty. Grab a classic pie from Fat Bastard Pies, settle in at The Grille, or keep it easy with The Batch.

After lunch, leave the city behind and head inland through Southland’s farmland towards Scotts Gap. This is the kind of place where things move a little slower, and the connection to the land runs deep.

Visit Auld Farm Distillery, a family-run operation crafting spirits from grain grown on site. Learn about the journey from paddock to pour with a tasting or join the Seed-to-Sip Experience (75 mins) to follow the journey from grain to glass and take the time to experience it for yourself.

Allow around 1 hour each way for the drive, travelling via Winton or Ōtautau.
